John M. Jurco was raised in the St. Clairsville, Ohio – Wheeling, West Virginia area. He attended Ohio University – Eastern and graduated with an Associates in Arts degree in 1997. He went on to attend Marietta College and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1999; he majored in psychology, minored in history, and graduated magna cum laude with full college honors. Thereafter, John attended Ohio Northern University – The Claude W. Pettit College of Law and graduated with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence degree in 2003. While at law school, John was Lead Articles Research Editor on the Ohio Northern University Law Review and performed an externship with Ohio Supreme Court Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton.
After graduating from law school, John became licensed to practice law in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. He also became licensed in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Northern and Southern District Federal Courts in Ohio and West Virginia, and in the Federal Bankruptcy Courts in the Southern District of Ohio and Northern District of West Virginia.
John worked as an associate attorney at Schrader Byrd & Companion, PLLC from August, 2003 through February, 2009 during which he gave a presentation with the West Virginia Junior Chamber of Commerce on the responsibilities of non-profit corporate boards of directors, wrote the appeal in Jochum v. Waste Management, et al., 224 W.Va. 44, 680 S.E.2d 59 (May 19, 2009)(per curiam), and practiced extensively in personal injury litigation in Ohio and West Virginia. From March, 2009 through June, 2010, John was a sole proprietor, practicing law in the areas of workers compensation, bankruptcy, and criminal and civil litigation. From June, 2010 through the present, John has worked as an associate attorney at Jividen Law Offices, practicing primarily in the areas of civil and criminal litigation.
